Client Policies and Procedures
Scope of Practice
All services at Euphoria Therapeutic Massage are performed by Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapists who are licensed in North Carolina and held to the highest standards of the American Massage Therapy Association.
Massage Therapy is a profession in which the practitioner applies manual techniques, and may apply adjunctive therapies, with the intention of positively affecting the health and well-being of the client.
Massage Therapists do not diagnose or prescribe for medical conditions nor are they allowed to provide treatment for a specific condition without a doctor’s supervision. The massage therapist is required to refer you for diagnosis and to follow recommendations of your physician.
Prior to each massage session, the treatment plan will be discussed with you. At your first visit with us you will receive a copy of the massage therapy policies and will be asked to sign the consent stating that you have read the information, understand it, and agree to comply with the professional massage therapy policies and procedures. Clients who we have not seen for at least a year will also be asked to fill out this form.
Respect for Client Needs and Boundaries
In this partnership, it is important that the client is honest and open with the massage therapist. Feedback about the effectiveness of the work, situations that may have been uncomfortable for you, massage techniques that you enjoyed, massage techniques that you did not like, etc., is very important. Please feel free to share this information with us, as you become aware of it.
If at any time, you feel that another therapist would better serve you, please ask for a referral. If we do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, tell us immediately. We will not be offended as we hold our massage therapy policies to a very high standard.
Euphoria Therapeutic Massage Therapists are happy to adjust pressure, temperature, musical volume, work longer on an area or move on if you request it.
The client may choose to: leave on as much clothing as needed for comfort, refuse any massage methods, stop massage at any time and is free to leave; the therapy door is never locked.
The client will always be modestly draped. Only the area being massaged will be undraped. The clients will be kept informed of the area to be massaged.
The breast and genital area will not be massaged under any circumstances. Also, low back, hip & gluteal area will be massaged only with permission and can be worked through the draping if requested.
Requests for sexual activity will not be tolerated, will be viewed as solicitation, and reported to the proper authorities under the guidelines of the massage therapy policies and procedures. The client will not be rescheduled if this occurs.
Sexual interaction or discussion of any kind between the client and the massage therapist is NEVER appropriate.
We do not massage anyone under the age of 18 unless the parent or guardian is in the room and signs their form and with therapist approval.
Confidentiality and Conversation
The discussion between the massage therapist and the client is confidential. The client may or may not choose to talk during the massage.
It is inappropriate for a massage therapist to discuss the therapist’s personal life with the client. We are happy to listen to your conversation and share our professional expertise. We prefer to not discuss topics of a political, private or sexual nature.
We may be required to release records under a court order, or to your doctor.
Existing and New Medical Conditions
It is the responsibility of the client to keep the massage therapist informed of any medical treatment currently being taken, and to provide written permission from the physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, etc., that the massage may be continued. The client must also keep the massage therapist informed of any changes in health conditions.
For clients undergoing chemo and radiation please note that we require a doctor’s note that states the doctor is aware of and agrees to the desired treatment.
Sanitation and Hygiene
All equipment and linens that come in contact with the client will be cleansed in an approved method. The massage room is disinfected between clients and sanitized each evening. Each massage room has an air filter.
Before and after each massage, the massage therapist’s hands and forearms will be washed with hot soapy water and a disinfecting solution. Any breaks in the skin of the massage therapist will be covered with protective coverings.
The client will come to the massage therapy appointment clean. The client will inform the massage therapist of any breaks in the skin, and these areas will be avoided.
Should the massage therapist or the client contract a contagious disease that could be spread during the massage session, such as a cold, flu, or other droplet or airborne infection, each will inform the other. The decision to reschedule will be handled on a case-by case manner.
All massage appointments are by appointment only. Our hours are from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Friday and 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday. We are closed on Sundays. To ensure appointment availability, we suggest that a regular series of appointments be scheduled. You, the client, will also discover the value of regular appointments to your own health benefits.
In order to obtain your desired appointment, we recommend scheduling as far in advance as possible to ensure availability. We can assist you with scheduling your appointment if you call us at 336-803-0013 during our business hours. Online booking is also available for your convenience at . If you do not call to cancel your appointment, you will be charged a $25 No-Show-Fee to compensate your therapist for their time. This payment is due prior your next scheduled appointment.
Late Arrival Policy
We request that you arrive about 10 minutes early for your appointment. All treatment sessions have a specific time schedule therefore we regret that late arrivals may not receive extension of scheduled appointments. In special cases, and when our schedule will allow, we may be able to accommodate a partial or full appointment. This will be at our discretion and only with proper, advanced notification of your late arrival. The original reservation fee will be charged.
If the massage therapist is late for the appointment, the remaining time will be used and the client will receive a discount or will not be charged for the massage session.
Euphoria Therapeutic Massage recognizes that both massage therapists and clients are vulnerable to infections and therefore ask clients to cancel appointments when they are feeling unwell. If you have any of the following contagious illnesses the massage session will be rescheduled:
Clients may NOT bring children that will be left unsupervised by an adult during their massage, and Euphoria Therapeutic Massage will not be responsible for the care of children while a parent is receiving massage. Clients should arrange for their children’s' supervision beforehand reserve the quiet time and the relaxation during their session for themselves!
The prices for our massage appointments are based on the length of the appointment. Please note we will be increasing our prices on September 1, 2020 :
A monthly membership at Euphoria Therapeutic Massage is our customer loyalty program. It is an excellent choice for clients who come in to see us monthly (or more frequently) to save some money on your massage. You can find more information about our membership program on the page entitled, "Membership Program.”
Euphoria also offers package deals where clients can purchase 6 or 12 massages up front for a discounted rate. Clients can then use them at their discretion.
Dealing with a returned check is a very time-consuming and costly process, so we ask that the client use other accepted methods of payment if there is uncertainty about the availability of funds in their checking account at the time of their massage session. A $30 fee will be charged to the client in the event of a returned check due to insufficient funds.
Our clinic does not offer direct billing to insurance companies. We can provide an itemized receipt for your session that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. You must contact your health insurance provider to verify that massage therapy is a covered plan benefit and for instructions on how to submit your claim. You are responsible for full payment at time of service.
